Diaphragm Valves
Diaphragm Valves
Diaphragm valves are a category of linear motion valves that use a flexible diaphragm to control fluid flow. They are ideal for on/off and throttling applications, especially with corrosive, abrasive, or viscous fluids. .
The key feature is the isolation of the fluid from the valve's operating components, preventing contamination and corrosion. The diaphragm, made of an elastomeric or polymer material, is pressed down onto a weir (a raised ridge) in the valve body to shut off flow. When the diaphragm is lifted, a passage for flow is created.
This design makes them a popular choice in industries like water treatment, pharmaceuticals, and food and beverage, where sanitation and resistance to chemicals are critical. They can be operated manually with a handwheel or automatically with pneumatic or electric actuators.
