PTSA sensors play a crucial role in the efficient operation and maintenance of cooling towers. These sensors serve in monitoring and controlling the concentration of treatment chemicals such as scale and corrosion inhibitors. Although there are several sensors available in the market, AlpHa’s PTSA sensor portfolio offers exemplary precision and reliability.

  • Minimum detection limit under 1 ppb with resolution of 0.01 ppb.
  • Automatic temperature compensation.
  • Advanced optical filtering to prevent turbidity interference.
  • Flat sensing design for flexible, non-specific in-line orientation.
  • Analog (4 – 20 mA or 0 – 5 V) or digital (RS-485 MODBUS RTU) output formats to integrate directly with third party platforms.
  • Installs directly with all existing 1″ and 3/4″ tee fittings.

How Do PTSA Sensors Work

Fluorescent trace chemicals such as PTSA change in color in response to chemical content concentration. So, when added to treatment chemicals such as scale and corrosion inhibitors, an in-line fluorometer is able to measure the changes in the PTSA. Hence, interpret the concentration of the treatment chemicals.

Benefits of a PTSA Sensor in Cooling Towers

A PTSA sensor offers several benefits in cooling towers as well as other water treatment systems as follows:

  • Scale and Corrosion Inhibition: PTSA sensors help maintain the right levels of corrosion and scale inhibitors. Thus, extending the design life of treatment infrastructure.
  • Water Quality Management: They contribute immensely to water quality by ensuring that chemical treatment programs are effective.
  • Efficiency Optimization: By ensuring proper chemical dosing, PTSA sensors help avoid overuse or underuse of chemicals, resulting in cost savings.
  • Environmental Protection: Precise chemical dosing due to the presence of PTSA sensors help minimize the environmental impact of cooling tower operations.
